2012 is underway

It’s 2012 and I already have one con down. Last weekend was Arisia in Boston, where I debuted a new costume. Well technically it was two costumes, both Cinderella. I made her blue gown and over it I wore her torn pink dress that was torn away on stage. The tear away could have gone better on stage ;_; but a lot of people told us they liked our presentation, so that was awesome! My friend Sweet-Pea was my Fairy Godmother, who transformed into Edna Mode from the Incredibles to change my dress.

Next month is Katsucon, where I’ll be attending for the first time. I’ll be wearing Skyward Sword Zelda, Eternal Sailor Pluto, and Subaru. I hope to finally make Kobato and I’ll be making Tokaki for my friend to go with my Subaru.

I also have a HUGE project for Anime Boston for a fun group that’s a secret for now. Can’t wait for that, but it’s going to be a LOT of work.

Two more cons to go – AAC and AnimeUSA

Dragon*Con was last month and, as usual, it was amazing! I already have plans for next year, so crazy.

I have two conventions left this year, AAC up in Nashua, NH and AnimeUSA down in Arlington, VA. For AAC I will be making Maya from Evangelion for a group organized by the lovely Serephita Cosplay. I’m also going to make a Twilight Sparkle costume from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

After that, is AnimeUSA. I’m finally going to make my Kobato costume (I’ve had the materials for months!), and I want to make one more, but I’m not sure what. I might make Subaru from Fushigi Yuugi (with Tokiko for Nigoki) or Fuka from Disgaea 4. I don’t think I’ll have time to make all of those, but I wish I did. Then again, I would have been able to if I haven’t slacked for the past month after Dragon*Con.

Can’t wait to see old friends and make new ones at these cons!

Dragon*Con

I can’t believe I’ll be leaving for Dragon*Con in just a couple of days. I’m finishing up all my new costumes and fixing up old old ones. I have a lot planned and I’m super excited.

Here’s the line up:

Friday: Afternoon – Eternal Sailor Pluto; Evening – River Tam

Saturday: Morning – Sarah Jane Smith (Doctor Who); Afternoon – Gramma Nutt (Candyland); Evening – Kara “Starbuck” Thrace (Battlestar Galactica)

Sunday: Afternoon – Sherbet (MLP Sundae Best); Evening – Rita Skeeter (Harry Potter GoF)

Time to get back to hand sewing while watching the VMAs (only so I can see the sneak peek of The Hunger Games movie!).

PortConMaine and Otakon

In just a little more than a month, I’ve gone to two conventions and on a real, non-con vacation. It’s been a pretty busy month, and now it’s one month till Dragon*Con! I have  three new costumes planned for that: Saffron from Firefly, Rita Skeeter from Harry Potter, and Sarah Jane Smith from Doctor Who.

I was honored to be a judge for both PortCon’s masquerade (as a performance judge) and Otakon’s masquerade (as a craftsmanship judging). I really enjoy judging and I love giving people awards for their hard work. Both conventions were tons of fun. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get to AnimeNEXT, but I am definitely going to AnimeUSA now, so that makes up for that.

I also debuted some new costumes. At PortCon I debuted Sherbet from My Little Pony, and at Otakon I debuted Mina Akiyama from Getsumen To Heiki Mina and Morte from Sands of Destruction.

In the next couple days I’m going to clean up the disaster of my apartment (that’s what happens when you travel three times in about a month), then start sewing my Dragon*Con costumes. So excited for this convention!

New Costumes!

I’m working to get caught up on the website after debuting four new costumes at two conventions, two weekends in a row – Anime Boston and Costume Con. I added pictures for Yui and Sailor Pluto and information about Yui. Pages for Cecilia and Rock Star Emeraldas will be coming soon.

Now I have about a month to chill before AnimeNEXT and PortConMaine. I’m still not 100% sure if I can go to AnimeNEXT, but I really want to. I cannot wait for PortCon, I really enjoy that convention. I will be making Fuu from Magic Knight Rayearth for that con.

Guest Appearance – PortConMaine 2011

I will be a guest at this year’s PortConMaine up in South Portland, Maine. This will be my fifth time attending the con, first time as a guest. I’m excited, I really love this convention.

I’ll be running a couple of costuming panels, as well as running a couple of game shows as part of AnimeCons, and covering the convention and shooting segments for AnimeCons TV.

Hope to see you there!

Another New Theme – Part 3!

Okay, I think I’ve finally got it. I went back to one of the themes I had before and figured out how to do the stuff I couldn’t previously. Now I just need to figure out how to make the page look more interesting, since it’s very plain. But the layout is all there.

I also still need to update all the costumes. It’s not hard, just tedious. I’ll get there eventually.

Another New Theme – Part 2!

Finally had a few minutes to work on this today. Still not happy with this theme, but I’m going to play with some more to see if I can get it to work.

Arisia was awesome. Won Best Recreation in the journeyman division for both Workmanship and Presentation for my new Sheryl costume. Can’t wait to get some good pictures of it up.

Another New Theme!

I think I finally found a theme I like. Maybe. I like how the header rotates.

I also updated a couple more costumes. Still getting there. It’s not hard, just tedious.

And the 2010 Con Season is Over…

With AnimeUSA over, thus ends my convention season. A season where I made… twenty costumes – seventeen for me and three for friends. Yikes. Some had more work involved to them than others. I think the scale ranges from Kaylee being the simplest to Falsetto and Jazz being the most work.

As for next year, I’m not really sure yet what I’m doing. I’ll definitely be making Eternal Sailor Pluto for Anime Boston and Fuu for PortConMaine. I’m also definitely doing Yui for Anime Boston, but I’m not 100% sure what version yet. I have materials already for a few other costumes I want to do, but nothing else is set in stone yet. I have to get moving on that, especially for Arisia, my next con, which is in two months. I’m the Costuming Track Manager for that convention and there are a lot of great panels planned, I’m very excited.

I’m going to try updating at least one costume a day, until I get everything updated. Using WordPress is SO much easier than doing HTML.
